If you've been exporting payroll data into spreadsheets, manually reconciling figures, or waiting on someone else to pull a report, there's a good change you haven't fully explored what Microkeeper's reporting tool can do.
It's already built into your account*. And it's worth a proper look.
*Some features might only be available under specific tier plans.
What the reporting tool actually does
Microkeeper's reporting module sits inside your payroll software and gives you direct access to your payroll data in a structured, exportable format, without touching a spreadsheet.
There are two sides to it: standard reports and custom reports. Together they cover most of what Australian payroll and finance teams need on a regular basis.
Standard reports: instant access to the data you need most
Standard reports are pre-built by the Microkeeper team and ready to use the moment you've processed a pay run. There are 12+ reports available covering the payroll data points Australian businesses need most, including:
- Payroll summaries
- Employee superannuation breakdowns
- Deduction reports
- Leave accrual tracking
- Payroll tax reporting
Each report filters automatically based on your selected pay period and run dates. You can view them on screen, export as CSV for your accounting system, or save as PDF for compliance records. For most businesses, this alone removes the need to manually compile payroll data after every pay run.
Custom reports: build exactly what your business needs
If the standard reports don't quite match what you need, the report builder lets you create your own from scratch.
Using a drag-and-drop column builder, you select the data fields you want, arrange them in the order you need, and rename column headers to match your internal terminology or accounting requirements. You can then apply filters like employee groups, cost centres, data ranges, or combination of conditions, so the report only returns the data that's relevant.
Once built, custom reports are saved and reusable. You can clone them, edit them, or use them as templates for recurring reporting needs. When you're ready to export, the same options apply: CSV, or PDF.
Why it matters for Australian businesses
Manual reporting creates risk. Formula errors, copy-paste mistakes, and misaligned data are common when payroll figures are handled outside they system that generated them.
Microkeeper's reporting tool pulls directly from your payroll data, so every figure is system-verified and consistent.
For compliance specifically, having timestamped, audit-ready reports for STP, superannuation and payroll tax means you're not reconstructing data under pressure when a deadline arrives.
And for managers who need visibility into team costs, leave liabilities or overtime trends, role-based access means they can run their own reports without needing to go through payroll staff or wait on a custom export.
